| How much does a painting generally cost?
This is probably the most difficult question to answer. Art is not like other services where the cost of something is set down in a standard formula. Each project is unique. A painting can cost as little as one-hundred dollars or as much as tens of thousands of dollars. The best way to have a good idea on price is to get an estimate. I give free estimates. All I need are the details- and any reference photos you can provide. I offer the absolute best cost : quality ratio in the business.
How long will it take for my painting to be produced?
This is probably the second most difficult question to answer. Time and cost are naturally linked. A painting could take as little as a day to complete or as long as several months. Like the question of cost, the best way to have a good idea on time is to get a free estimate. Unlike cost, an additional variable to a time estimate is my availability. Some times of the year are inevitably much busier than others.
Do you work from photos or real life?
Both. While the real object or person are always preferable, I can work quite well with photographs (given that they are good quality images). Sometimes paintings created strictly from photos are quite dry in their detail and color. I have always been able to infuse my paintings with life, even when all I had to work with were photos. The secret is knowing when to stop looking at the photo and begin looking solely at the painting. With regard to murals and decorative work, I will often use photos in the layout process. On most projects, my first step is to create a digital composite image- thus giving the patron a very good idea of what the project will end up looking like in the real space.
Can you use photos I supply for use in the painting?
In an ideal situation I would like to take at least some of the reference photos. Though, I can certainly use photos you supply so long as they are of sufficient quality and clarity. On some rare occassions images of only negligible quality are available. In these situations, I do my best with what I am given.
How do I know I will be satisfied?
I work hard to ensure absolute satisfaction. I have a 100% satisfaction rate thus far and intend to do everything in my power to continue this. My clients are given many opportunities to view the artwork while it is being created. With most commissions, the client is given photographs of the artwork midway through the process.
Do you work locally only?
I will work anywhere although I would need to add travel expenses if it is far enough away to warrant this. It is much simpler with regard to work which is created in my studio. If the client lives close enough, I will personally deliver the finished work. If they live too far away, I carefully package and ship the finished work to them. |
