I have had the opportunity to work on some truly remarkable projects. Below are two with particular cultural and historical significance.

A National Monument
The photograph above shows a national monument I was commissioned to create artwork for. It is located on the banks of the Rappahannok River in Fredericksburg, VA. The photo was taken during a dedication ceremony on August 31, 2003.
Above is a close-up view of the bronze plaque. The text describes the valiant actions these Civil War volunteers took on that fateful day in 1862.
This is the original drawing for the monument. All of the battlefield renderings done at the time showed views the Union soldiers saw- namely the city of Fredericksburg and the backs of their fellow soldiers. I decided it would be more of an emotive experience if the viewer would see it as the Confederate troops saw it.
Recreating a Flag from the Civil War
Shown above is a photograph of the original canton in its very deteriorated condition. To the right is the canton reproduction, painted on both sides of blue silk. Seen below is the 63rd Pennsylvania Regiment of Civil War Reenactors at the flag dedication ceremony in April 2004.
